Background and Experience

I received my masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wyoming in 2009.  Since graduation, I have worked predominately in direct individual therapy services but also have experience with: Intensive Outpatient Therapy group work for substance use disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy group work, hospital assessment for psychiatric emergencies, mental health crisis intervention, school counseling, and community-wide suicide prevention systems work.  In addition, I have done LGBTQ+ advocacy work in educational, media and governmental settings on a volunteer basis.  I strive to be a counselor who recognizes and honors the unique journeys of individuals with diverse identities and experiences.

Since 2021, I have focused on using EMDR to help people address the negative beliefs about themselves that often fuel mood disorders like depression and anxiety as well as drive the symptoms of trauma.  Whether the trauma is a tragic accident or the impact of being raised by a highly critical parent, EMDR can make noticeable differences in relatively short treatment windows for most people.  I have found success using EMDR with telehealth clients and have strived to improve my systems over time.

On a personal note, I am an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion for exploring wild spaces though all seasons (all photos on the site are by me or of me).  I also enjoy spending time in nature with my wife and our son.
